Hon Alimamy Kamara – a Sierra Leone politician with a difference
The Minister of Youths Affairs, Hon. Alimamy A. Kamara (in photo), has said that politics is about peace, unity, stability and development, as well as the advancement of the socio-economic condition of the citizenry.
He said President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is committed to discharging all of these values.
He made these remarks when the APC Constituency 29 executive members recently paid a courtesy call on him of at his Bishop House office, National Stadium, Freetown. He thanked President Koroma for the confidence reposed in him and also commended the executive members for their enormous sacrifices and efforts in ensuring the re-election of President Koroma.
The executive members expressed their gratitude to President Koroma for recognising the efforts of Hon. Alimamy Kamara who was also the constituency parliamentary candidate in the 2012 November general elections.
The Constituency Chairman, Peter S O Koroma described Hon. Kamara as a nationalistic leader who has the country at heart, manifesting it by helping people irrespective of their political belongings, congratulating the minister on his appointment.
He further described Hon. Kamara as a dedicated, thoughtful and progressive politician who is committed to the progress and success of the APC’s ‘Agenda for Prosperity’ under the leadership of President Koroma.
Mr. Koroma noted that Hon. Alimamy Kamara has been playing a significant role and contributing immensely to the success of the APC at all levels for nearly a decade.
‘As social democrats, we believe that giving opportunity to young energetic people to serve in government is an expression of confidence in the ability of the Sierra Leone youth’, said Mr. Peter S O Koroma.
The chairman said Hon. Alimamy Kamara has motivated a good number of the youths within the constituency to engage in farming activities through his rice farm plantation for which he was awarded a certificate by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Joseph Sam Sesay in 2010.
Hon. Kamara graduated from the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Economics in 1996.
He is was vibrant parliamentarian who was very instrumental in articulating the views of his people and the ideals of the APC doctrine and principles through the ‘Agenda for Change.’
He bagged the prestigious annual award as the Best Parliamentarian of the Year 2011 by All Works of Life (AWOL).
The Youth Minister is also the APC national youth leader, a position he has held with honour and consequently graded as the best national youth leader since the advent of the APC party. He was able to change the perception of the APC youth league associated with thuggery, militancy and other vices to a point that the APC youth league is now being seen as the hope of the party, to the admiration of many politicians.
The APC Youth League currently has four ministerial appointments including Hon. Alimamy Kamara, many MPs, and councilors within the country.
The Youth League under the leadership of Hon. Alimamy Kamara is pioneering the first political academy in Africa, i.e., the Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma APC Youth Complex at Masialia, Masiaka, Port Loko district.
