Squash Tournament to Commence this Weekend in Sierra Leone

There are three categories, namely Open, Veteran and Junior  who will compete in the Africell sponsored squash tournament which will be graced on the opening day by the minister of defense Hon. Paolo Conteh and climaxed by President Ernest Bai Koroma, who is regarded as an icon and phenomena in squash competitions.

Speaking to the chairman of Armed Forces Squash Club at Wilberforce, Mr Ambrose Agu, he said all modalities have been put in place to ensure that the 8-days tournament is completed successfully, adding there will be trophies, awards, and cash prizes at stake to grab.

His Excellency President Koroma, VP Samuel Sam-Sumana, Paolo Conteh, Solomon Samba, Alie Antar, Jamel Shallop, Umaru Kakay, Alhaji John Karimu, John Yambasu and several others will compete in the eagerly awaited tournament.

Chairman Ambrose Agu said organizing this tournament, fencing and renovating the Wilberforce squash court, is just the beginning of my dream as junior squash players will soon benefit scholarships, we would like to organize 3 or 4 competitions annually and hope to plan for international tournaments.

He assures all that security will be well beefed-up during the 8-days tournament.

Chairman Ambrose Agu is a Nigerian who has resided in Sierra Leone for nearly two decades, he is a businessman, a squash player himself, dynamic, humble and has a passion for the game of squash for which he has contributed immensely over the past years.
