Nigerians to intervene in Sierra Leone’s road safety
A three man delegation from the Nigerian Road Safety Commission will arrive in Freetown next week to assess road safety in the country amidst conservable constraints faced by the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA) to improve the country’s road safety course.
Their intervention is as a result of the plea made by the Executive Director of SLRTA, Dr. Sarah Bendu when she visited Nigeria in a bid to rescue her country in terms of road safety. Speaking during a telephone interview, Dr. Bendu confirmed that the team of road safety experts will meet with relevant stakeholders in the country including the Minister of Transport and Aviation and His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma before releasing their report on how to address the road safety problem in Sierra Leone. The delegation is expected to stay for three days commencing 14th April,2013
It could be recalled that SLRTA joined other stakeholders to implement Operation WID as a way of enhancing road safety in the country without a road safety commission to address road safety issues like in Nigeria.
