Unpopular Reappointments in Sierra Leone
It pleased the President of Sierra Leone to reappoint Honorable Minkailu Bah as Minister of Education and Honorable Paul Kamara as Minister of Sports, however, the reappointments displeased and disappointed many citizens of this country.
Since His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma reappointed the two ministers, many Sierra Leoneans have been registering their displeasure and disappointment over the reappointments, arguing that the two reappointed ministers have been displaying their incompetence by woefully failing to solve the numerous problems they have been creating in their respective ministries since their first appointments, as evidenced by the notorious fact that Minkailu Bah has never succeeded in solving the teacher recruitment and teacher payment problem that keeps plaguing his ministry and Paul Kamara has only succeeded in promoting corruption, disunity and discontentment in the Sports Ministry.
Already, hundreds of football supporters have planned a big protest march to President Koroma at State House to demonstrate to him their displeasure and disappointment over the retention of Paul Kamara as Sports Minister.
For Minkailu Bah, many educational authorities have been describing him as one of the worst Education Ministers this country has produced; some other educational stakeholders view him a non-developmental and very vindictive minister who lacks the requisite experience and dedication to forward education in this nation.
Although the president bears the sole constitutional right to appoint ministers, we are humbly suggesting that he listens to public opinion when doing the appointments to save his government from being flooded with unpopular and incompetent ministers. We believe that several unpopular and incompetent ministers bear the potential to make the entire government unpopular and incompetent.
