Romanian re-appearance terrifies Vimetco workers in Sierra Leone
Local workers at the Vimetco Bauxite Mining Company at Gondama, in the Sierra Rutile area, have admitted that they have been terrorized by the sudden comeback of a Romanian expatriate, Misu Plopeanu (in photo), to the company.
Giving reason for their fear, the terrified workers described Mr. Plopeanu as a very violent man who, sometime ago, mercilessly beat up their fellow worker and was, consequently withdrawn to Romania from where he has been sent again to the company as Finance Manager, a decision which, they said, has not gone down well with them.
The workers referred to the re-appointment and subsequent re-appearance of Misu Plopeanu as very provocative, glaringly manifesting the extreme disrespect and contempt for their beaten colleague and the rest of them. They wondered how and why an expatriate who physically assaulted a black worker has been sent back to the company as Finance Manager.
Meanwhile, many local workers have vowed to vacate the company if Misu Plopeanu is not immediately withdrawn once more. “We just cannot afford to work again with a notorious brute who does not have an iota of respect for black workers,” the worried workers stressed.
