Constituents Assure MP

Thousands of people from all walks of life recently converged at the new court barray at Sembehun Nancy Tucker in Bagruwa Chiefdom, Moyamba District, to officially welcome their new Member of Parliament of Constituency 84, Hon. Mamie Yema Sobba- Stephens (in photo).

The MP received a red-carpet welcome in her home town, marking the end of her final thank you tour to the people who, during the November 17 polls, gave her the mandate to represent them in parliament.

She had earlier visited other communities within her constituency including Bauya, in the Kangbora Chiefdom and Rotifunk, Bumpe Chiefdom where she thanked her constituents for their massive support and cooperation during the last elections.

The occasion was colourful as school children, youths, women and the elders of Bagruwa chiefdom lined up on both sides of the street leading to the new court barray as the MP drove along the street waving her handkerchief to her people. Leading the convoy was a group of jubilant okada riders who escorted the MP from Modugur town, in the Kaiyamba Chiefdom to Sembehun.

At the court barray in Sembehun, the people assured their new MP of their total support and cooperation to promote peace and development.

The SLPP women’s leader in Bagruwa chiefdom, Madam Leticia Moody, who chaired the meeting, said the presence of huge number of people is a clear manifestation that the people really love their parliamentarian, adding that the leadership qualities of the MP, who has worked as clerk of parliament, gave them confidence that she will deliver the goods.

Hon. Mima Yema Sobba-Stephens thanked her people for the wonderful reception accorded her, noting that she was impressed by their high level of cooperation, appealing to parents and guardians to monitor the progress of their children in school. She called on them to be law abiding and assured them of her continued support

Other speakers were the Paramount Chief of Bagruwa Chiefdom, Robert Coker Silolo Papapwe III, and the youth leader.
