Paramount Chief cries foul
During the recent hearing of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Transparency and Accountability, chaired by Hon. Claude Kamanda, the Bo District Council was reportedly cleared in all areas except for the market which it constructed at Sembehun in the Tikonko Chiefdom, Bo District.
Addressing the committee, the Paramount Chief of Tikonko Chiefdom, Joe Kangbai Mackavoray, said the market has become a white elephant as the residents of the town have abandoned it.
PC Mackavoray, who doubles as the Chairman of the Council of Paramount Chiefs, south, complained that he was completely marginalized in the construction of the Sembehun market.
He furthered that he was never informed about the cost involved and never officially knew the Lebanese contractor who did the construction work which he described as awful.
