In Sierra Leone ACC May Indict Fuel Dealer
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) may indict Santigie Shilling Sesay, aka Santigie Shilling, a fuel dealer in Lunsar Town, Marampa Chiefdom, Port Loko District for selling fuel at Le 5,000 per litre contrary to the official price of Le 4,500.
On Friday 29th March, 2013, the ACC District Coordinator, S. M. Kamara went to Santigie Sesay’s fuel station to purchase fuel where he discovered that it is being sold above the official price and demanded receipt which he refused to issue for which the ACC official closed the station.
S. M. Kamara revealed to this medium that he contacted the Lunsar Police Local Unit Commander who confirmed the exploitative habit of the fuel dealer and further revealed that he had received several reports about the fuel dealer for which he went to the station to confirm the allegations but that when he invited him to his office, he failed to show up on the pretext that he was traveling to Freetown to buy fuel.
He described the act of Santigie Shilling Sesay as corruption and vowed to prosecute him inspite of the fact that he is bragging in the township about his political influence that he is the APC Constituency 50 Chairman until his recent defeat by Zento Kamara.
Alpha Kabia, a youth in Lunsar revealed to this writer that even the Resident Minister, North, among other authorities, are aware and are victims of Santigie Shilling Sesay’s exploitative tendencies but have not done anything to address the issue.
Most of the residents in Lunsar disclosed that they are disappointed at the inability of the police and other stakeholders to bring the culprit to book even though he also victimizes those who oppose his unscrupulous activities for which they are appealing to Government, the National Petroleum and other authorities to intervene and save them from this shylock of a Santigie Sesay.
