For Assaulting Warden…Hotel Manager Sentenced 6 Months

The Makeni Magistrate Court on Tuesday 19th March 2013 sentenced Abdul Azizi Mansaray, Manager of  Hamzah Hotel, Makeni to six months imprisonment or an alternative fine of Le 2,500,000.

The Manager was charged on four counts ranging from assault, malicious damage, public assault and disorderly behavior against Traffic Warden Sulaiman Kamara who was on duty on 15th March, 2013 when the incident occurred.

The matter was presided over by Magistrate Roland Kamara who noted that the ruling is a stern warning to others adding that Abdul Azizi Mansaray should as well compensate Suliaman Kamara the sum of Le 500,000.

The case was prosecuted by Inspector Conteh of the Makeni Police Station.

The incident attracted the attention of the Makeni police who shiftily intervened and arrested Abdul Azizi Mansaray and charged him to court.

The Hotel Manager pleaded guilty to the charges.

The complainant, Suliaman Kamara revealed that Abdul Aziz Mansaray tore his uniform during the encounter and commended the Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Road Authority, Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu and management for their  timely support adding, “although I am the first victim of such incident, I  am satisfied with the action.”

He called on all staff of SLRTA to work amicably and cooperate with Dr. Sarah Bendu in her efforts to upgrade the institution and further acclaimed the Magistrate and the police for swiftly dispensing justice.

Dr. Sarah Bendu expressed delight at the court ruling and lauded the Magistrate and the police for the timely dispensation of justice.
