Ped Royal FC Wins Church Gala
Pentecost Evangelical Deliverance Ministry Football Club, Ped Royal FC on Tuesday 19th March 2013, defeated Jesus Evangelistic Encountering Ministry Football Club (Jee’s Ministry) 4-1 in a thrilling grand final at the Ghana Compound playing field, Lumley to lift the church football gala unbeaten, which was organized by Gem Ministry.
The gala commenced on the 11th March with 8 churches namely the losing finalist Jee’s Ministry, St. Mark, UBC, Christian Life, Cornerstone Ministry, Charles Davies, Wesleyan Church and the newly crowned champions, Pentecost Evangelical Deliverance Ministry (Ped Royal FC)
In their opening match, Ped Royal FC defeated St. Mark 5-3 and hammered UBC 5-1.
Ped Royal FC again met UBC in the semi final but struggled to beat UBC 2-1 to qualify to the grand final.
In the grand final, it was an easy 4-1 victory for the deserving champions who played like real professionals in all their matches as team coordination was their key discipline that earned them the glittering trophy.
In the grand final, Manzo Fofanah scored a brace and Paul Luseni and Yaraba Fofanah scored a goal each.
Speaking to the founder, and General Overseers of Pentecost Evangelical Deliverance Ministry, Rev. Emile Jones, he said he was delighted that the church won its maiden trophy which tells all that the players are growing in the game. “I will always be there at all times to help promote them even to professional level when God destines it,” he said, adding, “I will present the trophy to the church this coming Sunday.”
Ped Royal FC are also participating in the Lumley Welfare Committee Big League Soccer Gala and they will be battling their opening match against Harry Lacks FC on Monday, 25th March at Grassfield, Lumley.
