For Dedication and Resourcefulness Battalion Commander Extolled
Colonel Bureh Sesay, Brigadier Commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade, Murray Town, has described the Commanding Officer (CO) of the 11th battalion in Kambia, Lieutenant Colonel Dauda Alpha as a man of result and valor.
The Commander made this statement in his office at Murray Town over the weekend where he described the CO’s appointment to Kambia as one that has produced a result that was far expected of him. He noted that the Lieutenant Colonel has instituted reforms in the battalion since his stay, which have impacted positively.
Lieutenant Colonel Alpha explained that when he first took over command, his first task was to construct a new gate estimated at Le3 million as the old one did not befit a military barracks status. He added that the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) is currently suffering from an acute accommodation problem, and that he is now constructing 10 bed room structures for personnel as well a 5 bedroom structures at Yumkelia, which will be housing personnel at the Forward Patrol Base (FPB); soldiers tasked to patrol border areas who are currently suffering from housing facility to rest.
Colonel Sesay highlighted among other things that Lieutenant Colonel Dauda has installed 5 water points within the Kambia military barracks, with help from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This project he noted is providing clean and accessible drinking water for soldiers, and the Colonel stated that this has limited the reported cases of cholera.
When this press contacted the commanding officer of the 11th battalion, he intimated that since his return from Nigeria, where he completed a senior staff course in Jaji he emerged as the best foreign student among other personnel from Ghana, Benin, and Rwanda etc.
He noted further that his love for the army cannot be over emphasized; maintaining that his Brigade Commander Bureh Sesay’s love for his troops is unimaginable. Alpha described the Colonel as a seasoned administrator, firm, focused and onededicated to his duty.
