B Turay of Arizona speaks to NA and Sierra Leone

Fellow Sierra Leoneans: Within the last several months, the name Brima Michael Turay or BMT, in the North America branch of the APC and indeed amongst Sierra Leoneans around the world, meant different things to a good many of you. To some of you, I am considered abrasive, disrespectful, pompous, attention-seeking, and an enemy of the APC; while others see me as brave, courageous, tenacious, heroic, and the list goes on. The truth is that, I would like to think of myself as nothing more than someone who chose to make himself the “Voice of the Voiceless”. I did not do this to seek attention or gain favors from anyone. I stood up for what I believed would benefit our party and our people. The method of approach that I applied toward the problems we had at the time may have been very direct and somewhat confrontational; and may have been saturated with anger and frustration over what was happening at the time. Without making any excuses, I have taken full responsibility for the contents of my articles and have issued an apology to everyone who may have felt demoralized by such contents. (Photo: Brima M. I always have the belief that the honorable Ambassador Steven, Mr. Osman Conteh, Mr. Leslie Allen, Mr. Victor Bockarie Foh (Party Secretary); the Honorable Patrick Ojong, the Honorable ET Kamara; Ms Nanette Thomas; Mr. Unisa kanu; Dr. Bankole Gibson; Mr. Foday Mansaray; Col. Idriss Kamara; Mr. Abdul Berro Kamara; even the most controversial Mr. Foday Morris; and a host of other important people whose names I have not mentioned, have all played and still continue to play major roles in our APC North America branch. We cannot afford to lose what we believe they can bring to the table. Under the leadership of Al-Aziz Turay, and with the help of the fine men and women who constitute his administration, we will make sure we utilize the potentials of every member of the North America branch of the APC.

NEW ADMINISTRATION

Mr. Al-Aziz Turay, the current Chairman of the North America branch, is intelligent and highly educated. He has managerial experience and his leadership style is very inclusive. Every one of the great men and women in his administration has so much wealth of experience in diverse fields and all of them are highly educated. Each of them has a reputation that is very enviable and it sends a signal that they will do well in their respective roles; and we are blessed to have them serving our nation for free.

THE WAY FORWARD:

We now have a new administration in the APC North America branch, headed by Mr. Al-Aziz Turay. We have spent much time flexing our muscles over values which carry diverse perceptions amongst our constituents. We have learned to respect the values and rights of individuals after the negativity that we experienced in the last seven months. We will listen to every voice and pay attention to every concern that members may bring forward during our tenure. We will utilize the fineness in all of us to create real formidable machinery that will forever represent what we all believed in.

This administration will be very inclusive, which is the main philosophy and true spirit of the APC, and we will seek to bring more members into the fold. We cannot sit by and compromise the APC’s win in 2012. We have greater things to do in 2017. We should once again demonstrate, to all Sierra Leoneans and all APC supporters around the world, that when it comes to the APC, our commitment to make the party succeed transcends our pettiness and personal gains. By simply tolerating one another and respecting the voices of the majority, we have once again established the foundation upon which we could regain our lost glory and restore our strength and sense of oneness and sense of dignity.

TO PRESIDENT DR. EARNEST BAI KOROMA

The president of our republic is focused on his administration’s agenda for change, which is derived from his manifesto prior to his ascendancy to the seat of the presidency. We have an obligatory commitment to help him promote the said agenda. Part of how to do so is for all of us to adopt a positive attitude from this moment going forward. We will soon restore our usual fundraising dynamism so that we could generate more cash for the North America branch. We would accomplish this task through simple but important strategies that will focus on all the little things that we can all do together to make this branch a financially viable entity.

TO THE PEOPLE OF SIERRA LEONE

To all our people in the motherland, we say don’t worry. In 2007, we in North America, in partnership with all of you around the world, helped the APC assume the seat of power in Sierra Leone because we believed in, then leader and now president, Earnest Koroma. We organized and raised funds and exerted such passion for the APC beyond the ordinary. We are as capable yesterday as we are today to insure that the APC wins in 2012 and 2017 respectively. We never doubted our ability to make it happen; and with your grace and blessings, we will continue to be great partners in our nation’s development.

THE LAST WORD

I have always stood for what is right and fair. I pursued a line of action that wasn’t very popular and may still not be popular to this day. I did not do it out of any reason other than to insure that every one of us has a fair shot at our modern day politics. I personally have a responsibility to protect the validity of our bylaws at all times. I will therefore work side by side with the leadership of this branch to insure that every part of our bylaws is upheld and respected.

I therefore want all of you to be rest assured that if this administration veers away from its agenda and that of the APC, I will be the first to call it out, regardless of the fact that the Chairman is my younger brother. I, in collaboration with the Public Relations Office of the APC North America branch, and upon the advice of the head of the office, Alhaji Ibrahim Sie, will equally challenge any attempt by anyone to spread unnecessary and unsubstantiated propaganda against this administration. My service is to Sierra Leone and not one individual or a group of individuals. With humility and true sense of patriotism, we will succeed in all of our endeavors. May the good lord have mercy on all of us and protect us from the wrath of his fire.

LONG LIVE THE APC, AND LONG LIVE OUR MOTHERLAND – SIERRA LEONE.

Brima Michael Turay (BMT) – Arizona

Asst. Public Relations Officer (PRO); APC North America
