AWOL Re-branding Sierra Leone

The Executive of All Walks Of Life (AWOL), one of the leading development and charity based indigenous organizations the country now boasts of, has informed Sierra Express Media of its plan to take over the re-branding of Sierra Leone as the country marches up to the celebration of its 50th Independent Anniversary Celebration with a series of packaged events that will be undertaken both locally in the country and in the Diaspora to meet up with 2011.

Speaking to Sierra Express Media one of the philanthropist executives of AWOL Sahr Ngegba noted these series of events will commence April 2010 (this year) marking the 10 Anniversary celebration of the group and will run up to April of 2011 when the country will be 50 years old in self rule.

The series of events, he said, will aim at rescuing the dying image the country once had in terms of education, history, development and whilst it will also try to showcase its unique culture and tradition, tourist, and investment potential. He noted that AWOL has realized that nationals as well as the rest of the world have forgotten a lot about the contribution of Sierra Leone in Regional and global development and that not much is known about the development potential of the country to both citizens and the world at large; this he went on will be showcased for all to see by AWOL as its contribution to not only account for what Sierra Leone has gained in 50 years of self  rule but also tell the whole world and nationals in the Diaspora of the wealth  and potential of the country.

At home here in Sierra Leone according to the interview granted to Sierra Express Media Mr. Ngegba mentioned that these will be achieved through a series of events, publicity radio and television talks and newspaper adverts and press releases that also be linked and featured world wide for the benefit of those that are interested in affairs of the country. “AWOL also plans to take this first of its kind venture to mark the 50th independence anniversary to schools and academic institutions like the colleges and Universities where public lectures, debates and panel discussions will be held in the honor of re-branding of the country” the AWOL executive noted with stern determination.

Quizzed how such enormous undertaking could be funded, Ngegba said “AWOL is self sponsored by member contributions, any venture we undertake, the funds are truly from our pockets and purses, its charity, we give out because all of us in the organization want to give to our country that which has not been forthcoming from our citizenry ever since we got independence and that is what we hope to achieve and inculcate into our fellow citizens,” he concluded.
