Garbage Hill Endangers MPs
A malodorous garbage hill, located at the Circular Road-Berry Street Junction, is reported to be jeopardizing the health of Members of Parliament who ply that route to parliament.
The pungent odor of the garbage hill is posing health threat to not only the parliamentarians but also the pupils of the Rokel Secondary School and those of the Model Secondary School who are suffocated in their classes on a daily basis; the officials of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) are not spared by the suffocating garbage hill which is located close to their office.
The affected pupils have started complaining that the offensive odor of the garbage hill is seriously disturbing them and their academic work apart from being a source of embarrassment for them.
The parliamentarians and SALWACO officials are also complaining that the garbage hill is an eyesore that keeps embarrassing them and are calling on the Freetown City Council to remove the garbage dump to save the health of residents of the area.
