Khaled Al-Maeena, Editor in Chief of a leading government controlled Saudi Newspaper, Arab News made the remarks when giving vote of thanks in a well attended farewell ceremony for an African diplomat organized at the Diplomatic Quarters (DQ) in Riyadh yesterday.
The editor told his audience that Ambassador Munu is one of the Ambassadors who had on several occasions outlined his country’s potentials to the Saudi press, but quickly added that: “Our press is open to all diplomats and we ready to use our medium to sell any African country that has a good relationship with our government to potential Saudi investors.”
Your colleague ambassador from Sierra Leone, he added, has identified certain areas for possible investments in his country such as: Agriculture, Infrastructure, Fisheries, Tourism Industry, Mining, Telecommunication etc. “We will therefore use our medium to support the Ambassador in his drive to woo investors,” Mr. Maeena assures.
It could be recalled that Ambassador Munu, a couple of weeks ago, joined 30 African Ambassadors to sell the African continent to 50 local Saudi business tycoons at the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) in central Riyadh.
The Ambassador and his colleagues engaged the business tycoons to promote Trade and Investment between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and African countries through Regional Organizations such as ECOWAS, SADC, COMESA and IGAD.
Ambassador Munu has always emphasized to Saudi Arabian reporters that: “The potential for highly profitable foreign investment in Africa is enormous and numerous investment promotion agencies have been set up across the continent to publicize Africa’s economic opportunities to facilitate investment.
