Shallop Family Wins Prestigious Prizes in Johnnie Walker Golf Tournament
Popular businessman, Jamel Shallop and daughter, Manuella Shallop, were given a standing ovation and applauds when both received their various glittering trophies in the men’s and Ladies Amateur categories in the just concluded Johnnie Walker Golf Tournament at the Freetown Golf Club on Saturday evening 16th February 2013.
In the men’s Amateur category, Jamel Shallop got a gross of 79 and a net of 67 to be crowned as champion and Manuella Shallop also scored a gross of 93 and net of 67 to help her win the ladies championship.
Speaking to Sierra Express Sports, Manuella said she is overwhelmed and delighted in winning such a prestigious trophy together with her dad, Jamel, in front of the Shallop family, adding that “I’ll continue to excel in other tournaments”.
Fellow golfers Alie Marah, Alieu .M. Sesay and Mr. Khaoumi and others heaped praises on Jamel for his outstanding performance but vowed to put up a tougher action in the president’s tournament this weekend.
Rev. Sorie Kargbo and Edwin Michael came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the men’s category and Zella Vovan and Agnes Gotosa came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the ladies category.
In the professional category, Paul Kargbo came 1st, Brima Mansaray took 2nd position and 3rd position was by Robert Williams. The president’s tournament is currently in action including Golf, Squash and Tennis.
The managing Director of Aureole Insurance Company, Mr. Solomon Samba, is the current president of the Freetown Golf Club.
