Choithram International Foundation donates Le82M worth of scholarships

In a bid to improve the level of education in Sierra Leone the Choithram International Foundation through its scholarship fund has allocated the sum of eighty two million and three hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le82, 350,000) to assist needy school going children.

Speaking at the annual donation of Choithram Scholarship Fund the financial controller of the Choithram group, Mr. Harish Agnani said this year Le82,350,000 has been allocated to 230 children will benefit from this gesture.

He said this is in line with the vision of Late Mr. T. Choithram Pagarani to improve the education and health facilities in Sierra Leone.

Mr. Harish Agnani said Choithram International Foundation has been regularly funding the scholarship fund since its inception in 1967.

He said they also have plans to establish a primary school to provide quality education as soon as the government of Sierra Leone allocates the piece of land, in line with the government’s policy to increase the standard of education and number of children going to school.

He said the foundation also provides funds not only for the day to day running of the Choithram Memorial Hospital but also to procure modern medical equipment to upgrade the facilities at the hospital to international standards.

He said beside this, the Choithram Charity Trust also supplies foodstuff to the old peoples home and children’s home every month.

The financial controller noted that all of this is considered as part of social corporate responsibility by the Choithram Group.
