The International Executive Director of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace Unity and Justice, Mr. Alimamy Abu Bakarr Sankoh has urged politicians to uphold the tenets of justice, rule of law and respect for human rights at all times. He said peace and stability must work to perfection, if we have to build a strong democratic society.

He said the rule of law and respects for human rights were the essential components for true development of any society.

Mr. Sankoh made these remarks recently at Allen Town, east end of Freetown during the  presentation of certificates to over fifty able bodied men and women of the Hugo Chavez International Foundation who had successfully completed an eight months training course on field work activities.

He said it is exciting to note that democracy was gradually gaining ground in the world but added that much more needs to be done.

He also stressed the need for continuous development and progress of countries regardless of which political party is in power.

According to him, effective team building and consensus among leaders, particularly African Governments would be of utmost relevance in ensuring and pursuing projects left by a past administrations.

He congratulated all the grandaunts for treading through this all important training course and commended the manager of the field department, Mr. Victor Margay and his tutors for a job well done.

Madam Veronica Fatima Koroma, the Humanitarian and Social Security Manager of Hugo Chavez Foundation who was speaking in the capacity as Guest Speaker, said her department is interrelated with the field work department and assured them that in future as field workers they would form part of the foundation contingent force for deployment to provide humanitarian assistance where ever the foundation is called up to serve.

She said leaders are important in their respective communities as they act as an instrument of change.

She told the grandaunts that they are giving them these certificate to guarantee them as the foundation instrument of change as they are sending them to the field not to make the people shed tears, but lift the status of the people, clear the tears of the down trodden, the poor, the rural poor women, the orphan, the widows and above all to exhibit leadership role by example.

Pa Hassan Kamara, the country resident representative of Hugo Chavez International Foundation distributed the certificates.
