Yet Another Day
It all began with one big yelp
With gestures that signaled help
From the ushers who swelled up the joy
That herald the birth of a child, a boy!
Bouncing through the corridors of life
With strides that seemed all too rife
For the oath; ‘To live and dwell among
Each must feel, be and grow along’.
Yet another milestone, to count it all;
The gains: breath, purpose… the beauty of them all,
The losses: Mama, Mandela… the gap and empty pitfall
Diametrically equate my gratuity, over and through it all…
Yet another milestone, in the path of a boy
Yet another reason, to count it all joy
Yet another milestone, marking my natal day
Yet another reason, to say, ‘Happy Birthday’!
