Y2K FC champions of Brima Trophy
On Saturday 10th November 2012, Y2K FC defeated Byne Street FC on post penalities 5-4 after a fascinating 90 minutes of play which ended in a 1-1 draw, to lift the Brima Keita golden trophy at the Football Academy, Kingtom, in Freetown.
The Brima Keita sponsored competition commenced with 24 inter-community football clubs and Y2K C the 2012 champions lifted the trophy unbeaten throughout the competition.
Y2K FC opened the score line through star striker, Alusine Bangura, popularly known as “Owen” through an in-swing pass by his teammate.
Melvin Kanneh, a prolific striker for Byne Street FC leveled the score likne to 1-1 with a classical finish inside the 18 yard box a few minutes before the half-time break.
Both teams in the 2nd half showed a display of skills and talent with a quest for winning goals which did not come and at the end it was decided on post penalty kicks.
For the presentation of trophies and certificates at the high table, was the sponsor of the community gala, Mr. Brima Keita, who also happens to be the Chairman of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Western Area. Eastern Regional Football Association Chairman, Morrison Sannoh, and former Leone Stars player and Defence Minister, Joe Blell was also at the high table.
