New Diplomats take over Sierra Leone Embassy in Brussels

Two newly posted diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Winston Yankuba and Mohamed Amara have been warmly welcomed by the Head of Chancery and rest of the Embassy staff.  From L-R; Winston Yankuba (Counsellor), Haja F.B. Wurie (Head of Chancery) and Mohamed Amara (Second Secretary).

The two are replacing Ahmed T. Kabba and Allan E. George who were both holding the position of First Secretary and had since returned to Freetown at the end of their tour of duties.

Mr. Winston Yankuba is holding the position of Counsellor whilst Mr. Mohamed is Second Secretary.

In welcoming the two colleagues, HOC Haja Fatmatta Binta Wurie admonished all staff members including the new diplomats to regard themselves as a family unit where everyone is as important as the other.

“The Sierra Leone Embassy in Brussels has gone through some challenges recently, but with togetherness, we were able to surmount and sailed through those challenges. I am sure that with your wealth of experience and individual expertise you will contribute to the creation of the cohesive and effective unti we are in the process of forging.”, Haja Wurie told the two new diplomats.

Outlining some aspect of her management style, the Head of Chancery said she believes in the collaborative style of management, openness, ownership and motivating human resource, attributes which she believes could always lead to unexpected achievements.

She emphasized that the meeting was just a getting-to-know-you meeting and a comprehensive one will follow after the return of the Ambassador from Freetown.

In his brief response, the new Counsellor, Winston Yankuba gave a brief resume of his work experience, stating that he has worked in almost all the Ministries and promised to deliver to his utmost capability.

“I’m here ready to put hands on deck with my Head of Chancery and all other staff members to push the Embassy and the image of our country forward”, he emphasized.

Second Secretary, Mohamed Amara also gave a brief background of his work experience and further promised to do all in his capability to promote the image of the country and the mission.
