Bumbuna Website Launched

Bumbuna Hydro Electric Environmental and Social Management Project officially launched its website for transparency and accountability at the National Power Authority (NPA) building on Friday October 12th.

Whilst explaining the purpose of the launching of the website the Communication Specialist Bumbuna Project, Madam Mamadi Gobeh Kamara said this website project was sponsored by World Bank in order to clear their acquisition against the project.

She said with this website the public can now have access to information about what is going on about the project process, adding that they are raising awareness at both national and international levels.

Mamadi noted that, the economic landscape will change through the sponsorship of the World Bank, adding that they have done a lot of sensitization on the project especially on Bumbuna regarding the benefit it will bring to the them and the entire country.

She maintained that, the public can now access them on the website address www.bumbuna.sl for factual information. She thanked the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources for their relentless effort towards the project.

Making a statement the project Director Dr Abdul R Jalloh said the Bumbuna project is not a white elephant project citing that currently the Kenema District is enjoying 24 hours hydro energy electricity. Adding that it part of the project’s plans to reflect the benefit from the Bunbuna Hydro Energy supply to the wide part of the country.

The project Director maintained that the prime focus is not about how much Bumbuna project can be produced but how much it can be utilized for the greater benefits.

The Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Martin Bash Kamara noted that they have finished with the Bumbuna first phase, and that they are now working on the second phase for 2017, in which they are targeting the entire country, adding that the nation is blessed with heavy rain fall as it will serve as a strong basis for the successful result of the exercise.

The Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Oluniyi Robbin Coker also welcomed the website launching and  thanked the World Bank for making their dream come true, adding that with the website their will be good, clear, and effective communication for the public, noting that no hydro is bigger that Bumbuna.

The website was officially launched by the minister of Energy and Water Resources.
