City Council Swindles €25000
The European Specialist delegation working with the Freetown City Council (FCC) two years ago mapping-out the important places, buildings, locations, riverine basins and other topographical sites of Freetown, has reportedly been swindled by the sum of €25,000 by certain officials of the FCC administration.
According to an investigation into the said fraud, it is revealed that the past administration decided to rent an unfinished building for the said amount for the EU delegation. “The hierarchy of FCC did not treat the European delegation fairly as they deliberately defrauded the delegation the said amount on the pretext of renting a dilapidated, unused, underground bungalow which they claimed to rehabilitate”, our City Council source bemoaned.
Further investigations reveal that the said amount was paid in the FCC post cash book and was recorded or debited to the tune of Le15,000 instead of the €25,000 which was issued with a receipt of payment.
Many Sierra Leoneans are left wondering why such high profiled authorities could reduce their office to this level of fraud, many are calling the country’s social integrity commission the ACC for immediate action on the former Acting Mayor, Gibril Kanu, erstwhile Mayor Herbert George Williams, and the former Chief Administration Mr. Bowenson-Philips, as it points that they knew about the transfer and organized crime aimed to swindle monies for the nations conduit of development.
