Airtel embraces Thinking Pink with DIVAS

Airtel on Friday 5th October partnered Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation in promoting health and raising awareness for women in general in the country.

This was lauded by a march pass of the Airtel DIVAS along Siaka Stevens Street and Lightfoot Boston Street respectively.

Speaking to the Human Resource Manager Jestina Betts, she revealed that DIVAS is an initiative she came up with for female empowerment in the workplace. “As a family, we are trying to push women not only for a job but also in career basis. We want women to be leaders even in the area of Managing Directors and African leaders” Jestina further announced that with these in mind, they had organized a five days program which started on Monday 1st October wherein Airtel invited Ambassador Haja Alari Cole, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia to speak on the topic – THE HEIGHT WOMEN CAN GO. On Tuesday, there was a colour splash day featuring Lawyer Glenna Thompson, Wednesday saw a grand luncheon sale which was followed by a sports awareness day on Thursday wherein the coach of F.C Johansen spoke on how women must be pushful; and finally on Friday 5th there was a people’s awareness at the Hill Valley Hotel where DIVAS was clearly spelt out.

“Our partnership with Thinking Pink Breast Cancer Foundation is to promote health for women in the country” Jestina said, and therefore entreated the male counterparts to support women as women can’t do without them.

Speaking on Breast Cancer, Emilia Lebbie of Thinking Pink said that their partnership with Airtel is to raise awareness on breast cancer.  Emilia gave some insights on how women should reduce breast cancer, highlighting that women should eat vegetables, exercise to reduce fat, eat healthy food and avoid rubbing cream on the breast etc.

Staff of Airtel then went for a breast cancer check up after the ceremony.
