Councilors Face Stiff Ban in Sierra Leone
The Freetown City Council in consonant with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has imposed a ban on all councilors from entering the Council’s Administrative building owing to the end of their lifespan in office.
According to investigative reports gathered by this medium it was revealed that the ban was issued due to conducts of certain councilors, who had developed the habit of molesting and attacking staff of the Council for failing to comply to their dictates.
This Press witnessed a bitter brawl at the Council on Tuesday September 18th, in which a fight ensued amongst certain Councilors and Staff of the Council which provoked this stand-off.
The ban issued by Council took its effect from Wednesday September 19th and according to information, the Council had issued an instruction to the Metropolitan Police of the FCC to discourage and resist any Councilor that will attempt to penetrate the administrative building.
It could also be recalled that since the inception of the defunct council in 2008, Councilors have developed the culture of spending hours at the Council premises deserting their respective Wards, which many believe is a recipe for the chaos and subsequent ban.
It is also believed that many Councilors have always engaged the administrative building to house all kinds of people in the name of council work.
