Uncle rapes 13 year old niece
49 year old Mohamed Bangura of Aberdeen Bridge, appeared before magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No2 of the Freetown Magistrate Court on Saturday 22, with a two count charge, for alleged rape of his brother’s 13 year old girl.
The counts ranged from unlawful carnal knowledge contrary to section 7 of the prevention of the Cruelty to Children Act, Cap (31) of the laws of Sierra Leone 1960 as amended, Trafficking contrary to section 2 (1) of the Anti-trafficking Act 2005, on date between Saturday August 18 to the 20th at Aberdeen Bridge, Freetown.
Whilst testifying in the well of the court the victim explained that she had a bitter quarrel with her father the accused’s brother, when she decided to take refuge at the house of the uncle on the idea that she pass time their after her examinations, then she return to her mother at the up-province. She said in her encounter at the house, the uncle start making sexual advances at her and she was ravaged with all kinds of indiscriminate sex.
She continued in her testimony, that each time she attempted to go outside the uncle would send his daughter Adama Bangura to escort her. She said on August 18th, whilst the accused had finished satisfying his appetite, he forgot his phone and she used the phone to contact the Don Bosco Fambul Children Help Line to come to her rescue.
She said she pretended that she was pregnant, and then the accused allowed her under the guide of his daughter Adama to take her to the hospital at King Harman Road where the Don Bos Co Social Worker, Florence Robert, met them.
The matter was adjourned to Saturday 29th September.
