EcoMed Medical Center Brings Advanced Medical Diagnostics to Freetown

EcoMed, a state of the art Medical Diagnostic Centre, conforming to international standards, is now open in Freetown.  The new facility, a collaboration between Medic Services of Sierra Leone and Akai House Clinic in Ghana, provides Sierra Leone with reliable results and the capacity to perform advanced medical diagnostics that were previously unavailable in the country. The centre will serve as an affordable one-stop-shop for all major medical diagnostics.

Utilizing the highest quality equipment from Beckman Coulter, David Edwards – an Australian with over 30 years medical laboratory experience – states, “This new facility is unparalleled in Sierra Leone and the immediate region.” Mr. Edwards has managed the Akai House Clinic for the past 15 years and brings a wealth of expertise to EcoMed, while Senior Lab Technologist, Mr. Kassem Daher, brings 12 years of international medical laboratory experience. He states that, “from basic cholesterol tests to hormone deficiencies EcoMed will provide reliable and speedy results.”

  

The Radiology Department, fully equipped with GE high tech equipment, is nearing completion and will offer for the first time in Sierra Leone and the immediate region MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) as well as a GE Bright speed 16 Slice CT Scanner.

In addition EcoMed has a range of digital X-ray equipment including digital mammography, Dental Panoramic X-ray and  4D ‘state of the art‘ Ultrasound and ECG . The Radiology Department will commence its operations in the first week of October 2012 under the supervision of world renowned Sierra Leonean Radiologist, Professor H. Dahniya.

EcoMed’s Director Dr. Hassan H. Hariri proudly states, “This facility is a GAME CHANGER in the medical sector. Medical practice will never be the same in Sierra Leone; traveling abroad for Diagnostic Investigation is a thing of the past.”

The Laboratory is located 19; off King Harman Road 50 Meters from the Ministry of Tourism and is open Monday to Friday from 8.00 am and 5.00 pm and Saturdays between 9.00 am and 1.00 pm.
