With Laurels from USA…Rapture Kids to Return Home
Rapture Kids Sierra Leone, the country’s most celebrated childrens group, are set to return home next week after bagging several awards during their tour of the United States of America.
The group was among other Sierra Leonean groups and individuals awarded by Save Sierra Leone Foundation, in Maryland, USA. The children are also prepared to continue their education and to campaign for peaceful elections, back home.
The Raptue Kids received one of the top 100 Humanitarian Hall of Fame 2012 awards in the United States on August 31st and according to the citation, they were recognized for their contribution towards the Nation’s 50th Golden Jubilee celebrations and for their message of patriotism, peace, and development.
In a telephone conversation with this press from Maryland, the Head of the group said, Rapture Kids is a faith based children’s organization that uses music to preach about the love of good for mankind and everything that affects humanity.
The group became very popular after their hit song ‘Jubilee’ in Sierra Leone rocked the airwaves and was religiously listened in every nook and cranny of the country and beyond. The song became very popular when its video clip was officially made the anthem of the Golden Jubilee at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation Television (SLBC).
Prior to the award ceremony, the group which left the shores of Sierra Leone in mid August visited several states in the USA performing popular songs from their main album titled ‘Attitudinal Change’ a song which moved the audience who could not help the tears as their message touched on the decade long war in Sierra Leone and at the same time advocatign for a peaceful and non-violent November 2012 elections. The election song and gospel track were performed during the award ceremony in Maryland.
Several media houses such as the Voice of America, Gospel Drum, and Front Page Studio, among others, interviewed the group and on Sunday 2nd September an hour was dedicated Rapture Kids on the state TV in Maryland, USA.
