Journalist & Co Denied Bail
The ongoing matter at the Freetown Magistrate Court No 2 presided over by Magistrate Komba Kamanda, involving one Arthur Caulker a renowned journalist and Elizabeth Coker, who stand trial on a 64 count charge ranging from conspiracy with other persons unknown to defraud contrary to Section 32 sub-section (1) of the 1916 larceny Act and obtaining money under false pretense to the person of Alhaji Alieu Barrie, Emeric Tunde Cole, Ramatu Fofanah, Hawa Koroma, Captain Doctor Paul Fallah Nabieu, and Sahadutu Jah, sometime in February this year on the pretext of providing housing facility for rent.
The defense lawyer, E.T Koroma applied for self bail on the grounds that the accused persons have made payment of the money in question which is to the tune Le165 million, but was denied bail by the presiding magistrate.
The accused persons have appeared in court for over twenty times and are yet to be granted bail.
The matter was adjourned to the 21st of September, this year.
