Fofie Declares …and Constituency 109 Goes Red
Amadu Fofana commonly called Fofie, on Sunday September 2nd became the latest to declare for symbol under the political stewardship of the All People’s Congress Party (APC), vying for the position of the honorable Member of Parliament.
The ceremony at the Josben Complex, Brookfield’s attracted a high powered delegation consisting of local heads, councilors, aspirants, traditional dancers and other groups of stakeholders in Wards of 364, 365, and 356 respectively in the constituency. Almost everybody present was dressed in red party colors with an emblem of the aspirant to grace the occasion.
Chairman of the occasion, Reverend Father Yatah Samura, who doubles as the leader of the APC Prayer Group, admonished the mammoth crowd poll for the reason of endorsing a man whose name is synonymous to development. The chairman noted that Fofie’s ideals of statesmanship have already bore fruits citing that as a private citizen his vision of bettering the lives of his people is a mark of excellence, as he has undertaken developmental projects within certain areas of the constituency, especially in the Upper Brook, where he has constructed a water dam at the “Omolay Bush “budgeted in the region of Le35 million, even without entering the realm of the political corridors.
He also cited a project at Somalia Town in which the aspirant has constructed a Le25 million bridge to help channel easy access for people of that community; he also cited other subsidiary investment projects in which he has dolled out millions of Leones.
Talking on this occasion, Councilor of Ward (364) Sheka Dumbuya, local Traditional Heads spoke on behalf of their various wards and people’s unflinching support for aspirant Fofie.
In his maiden speech, aspirant Amadu Fofana welcomed all present in the spirit of oneness and nationalism, promising people that if he is fortunate to be voted into office he will write-off some of the challenges facing the constituency. He furthered that he is a born and bread son of the soil, who is no stranger to the issues of the day.
Fofie noted that his interest of entering mainstream politics stemed from his inception of infusing positivism into the lives of his fellow Sierra Leoneans especially Constituency 109, which he says is a sworn oath of conscience to him. He stated that some of his model ‘project developments’ cited by previous speakers is only but a show of what a personality he is.
Naming that he is the son of a poor proud Sierra Leonean parents Mr. and Mrs. Fofana, he noted that he was able to grow within the crux of challenges of being the son of a poor man, to rise above all pedigree in becoming a quality and educated Sierra Leonean, who is today asking his people to entrust him with the mettle of leadership.
