Josiah Paris Applauded For Promoting Healthy Debates

There is weaving of novelty in the political programs, ace broadcaster, Josiah Paris puts on in the airwaves of Universal Radio on Frequency Modulation (FM 98.7) – that have portrayed a beat of novelty in him, which is the fair-cast he gives to the various political parties in Sierra Leone.

On this, the various political actors in the country have applauded him for having provided good anchor-ship and enhancing friendly and healthy debates on political issues, which in the past used to be overshadowed by diatribes and spanners falling on each other’s faces.

Over the weekend, he hosted representatives from the All People’s Congress (APC) the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), and the United Democratic Alliance (UDM) in the persons of Cornelius Devoux, Dr. JD Rogers, Sahr M. Famanda, Silaju Sannoh and Alex B.M Kaikai.

Each representative spoke in constructive analysis of their various political ideologies in a heated debate factor but in a rather friendly manner.

Co-moderated by Sierra Express Media’s editor, Mr. Abu Bakarr Suliaman Tarawally, the studio guests articulated the issues of constructive nationalism, face values of their various leaderships, civic culture and chanted with a holistic approach, the back-peddling culture that has affected the deliverance and growth measures the country should have attained with good leadership style.

At least the 98.7 radio phenomenon introduced a diversified method of hosting debates on national issues without hurting the feelings of the main political actors. J.D Rogers, for example said he wished, Josiah Paris’s example is emulated and replicated in the conduct of national debates for political actors in the country.  Cornelius Deveux made the same suggestion and went further saying that the national broadcaster, the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) should be in place to emulate the good examples of Josiah Paris, the Chief Executive Officer of Universal Radio.

Such examples include building standing policies for the conduct of such programs and firming the practical limits of such policies on phone-in sessions. It does not only tolerate a responsible statesmanship response to national issues, but also promotes the tenets of democracy and make the citizens better patriots.

It is about a month now since Josiah Paris initiated the idea of hosting all major political parties on radio talk shows for a pro-bono one hour, following the outcome of a meeting held to sign a memorandum of understanding between him and seven political parties representative that is going to last for a period of one month.  Separate from the one hour talk show on each week-day between 9:00 to 10:00 p.m., Universal Radio has a frank parlor discussion program on Saturday between the hours of 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., wherein the debate which has won the mindset of the listening public is played host.
