If Wishes Were Golden!

Today we bade the holy month of Ramadan farewell, we welcome back our or Muslim brothers and sisters to join hands in President Koroma’s fight-struggle to better our country and society for the greater good of all.

In the entire period of the holy month of Ramadan the country was gripped with the images of challenges staring the face of every Sierra Leonean.  A lot happened within this short period of thirty days, reflection and counter reflection was the dominant procession of the events, starting from the flash of images that marred the country over riotous colorful events, ranging from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) slammed nomination fees widely considered as exorbitant, the death of our beloved mother Mama Alice Koroma whose death was a bitter pill for all Sierra Leoneans to swallow, the verdict of one of the most sought after trial featuring the Mayor of Freetown, Herbert Akirimi George Williams and the country’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) which hung shrouds of doubt in the minds of many ordinary Sierra Leoneans, the attack of the Minister of Defense retired Major Alfred Palo Conteh by ex-soldiers tagged Wounded in Action, the death of the Minister of Labor and Social Security Hindolo Sumamguru Trye, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Honorable Chukuma Johnson and one time SEM’s prolific writer, poet, and journalist Tatafway Mani Tumoe who passed away, are some of the cups of tea we drank in this our holy moment of grace.

Yet with all these unwholesome mishaps and glimpses of regrettable moments, Sierra Leoneans are self satisfied if not all but many in the way and manner the Captain has been navigating the ship to the shores of glory.  It is no longer a hidden secret that President Koroma has the evergreen ideology of turning this country into a better place in the globe of developed nations.  His agenda of transforming a poverty stricken nation to one that will be economically self sufficient is considered golden, in which we heard a common slogan, saying “everything President Koroma touches becomes gold”. Though people might muster conflict of opinions as against the literature of these words, to allay the fears of assassinating this truism, is the massive nationwide road construction project, the energy transformation, the second largest economy in the current global development index is the true picture of what is scribbled.
