Okome Wows Kissy Community in Sierra Leone
Son of the soil Okome Ashuioode Davies, a resident of Black Hall Road, Kissy in the east of capital Freetown has attracted enormous support from indigenes of the Kissy village in his bid to run for the position of a councilor of Ward 363 in Constituency 102 under the umbrella of the incumbent All Peoples Party (APC).
Okome as he is popularly called is a senior teacher at the Hennessey Preparatory Primary School, Kissy and on declaration of his intention to vie for the position past Tuesday, intimated to this press that the pronouncement made by the chief National Electoral Commissioner Dr Christiana Thorpe on Monday July 30th concerning the registration fees for political position, is a right step in the right direction. He noted that the new development will instill moral standards among aspiring candidates while getting them to respect their various political positions and serving the people’s interest with due diligence.
Okome vowed to raise awareness and enhance the capacity of the youths in the constituency thus making them self reliant.
The councilor in waiting, as he is mostly referred to, promised to alleviate the aging portable water and sanitation problem and facilitate good health care and other basic social amenities that are lacking in his community.
He further disclosed his strategies to attain these pledges using his lobbying techniques and the support of the youths themselves.
Meanwhile a cross section of the youths of Constituency 102 have threatened to withhold their support for the APC if their popular choice, Okome is denied the party symbol since the current councilor Abass Kamara has disappointed the greater population in the constituency woefully.
