Man sentenced to six-month imprisonment over possession of marijuana

An accused person named Yonga Kamara, of 10 Goreh Village, has been sentenced to six month imprisonment by Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No2, on one count charge of unlawful possession of one hundred and twenty five kilo raps of marijuana, contrary to Section 28 of the Unlawful Possession Act No 1007 as amended in 2008 Act.

The accused was arrested in possession of the illegal substance at Shell Old Road Kissy Freetown. The presiding Magistrate Komba Kamanda, handed out the sentence which is to start after the elections in November 2012.

Magistrates Komba Kamanda ruled that the marijuana used as exhibit to support the case should be destroyed.
