Recognizing Good Work

Life is a stage in which everyone comes, plays his part and departs, as William Shakespeare would say. Nobody, completely sane would contest that yesterday paves the way for today; no one in his thoughtful state would argue that there were performers on stage yesterday that did extremely well. Yet if performers of today have done anything good, let us laud it for the sake of patriotism and posterity.

This analogy is hitting a microscopic outlook on the political atmosphere in Sierra Leone which has blinded people to every element of truth.  The political trend in Sierra Leone cannot be comprehended unless and until one divorces thoughtfulness and foresight, then and only then the situation would be understood.  What majority understands about politics is that at each opportunity and circumstance, one must be able to pull down or suppress every iota of good work by opponents in a bid to prevent lauding.  At one point a political party – most often an incumbent one – would endeavor to bastardise excellent policies by a former government because the belief exists that the onus will never be directed to them – such thoughts are scattered, rough and as backward as buttocks.

Among the citizenry in this country, loyalties to political parties have strengthened misconception of the term politics to the extent that even personal matters are politicize.

God help this nation!

It is indeed argued that an impressive number of Sierra Leoneans are still illiterate, and that accounts for the ugly misinterpretation of politics.  However, I strongly believe that illiteracy is only a misfortune not necessarily a disease; but even if it is, we are not incapable of providing a therapy considering our mental advancement.  Politicians in this country are fast becoming devils. They are the major sponsors behind every chaotic and blind state we find ourselves in.  Instead of building ideals and agitations around constructive criticism, they find pleasure in the destructive criticism that has married every four corners of the country.

It is only in ignorance that one could see good work and give a blind eye to it.  Too much of one thing is good for nothing they say.  It is high time we dropped our loyalties to the so called political parties for our honorable green, white, and blue, so that we start seeing the true colours of things.
