In Kambia, Cholera kills 3 & 5 hospitalized
The District Health Medical Team (DHMT) in the North has reported cases of widespread cholera diseases in that part of the country following the deaths of three victims and the hospitalization of five at the District Hospital.
Nurse Fatmata Kamara who works at the DHMT in Kambia said the disease has killed three people at a village called (Babuia) Samu Chiefdom.
She added that the victims were rushed to the Kambia hospital immediately after they were attacked by the virus but doctors could not help to save them. However five others she said have been hospitalized at Kambia on Friday August 3rd where they are responding to treatment.
In a move to prevent further deaths as a result of the disease, the District Medical Officers have embarked on a preventive control measures, which include cleaning the wells and chlorinating drinking water. Nurse Fatama further said the government should send enough equipment, such as hand gloves, medicines to reduce the disease, as its always killed people every other day in the country.
