WIA Praise VP Sumana
Ex-military officers of the Wounded in Action (WIA) batch three have commended the Vice President Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana (in photo) for his bold stance in trying to resolve their money protest with the Ministry of Defence.
One WIA Executive Member, Mohamed Kuyateh, told this press that VP Sumana took it upon himself to personally address them on Wednesday 1st August, 2012 and he assured them that he will do all in his authority to make sure their money is paid by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
According to Mohamed Kuyateh, the VPs proposed action on that day was supposed to be done by either the Minister of Defence Retired Major Paolo Conteh, or the Minister of Internal Affairs, Musa Tararwally.
Explaining further, the WIA executive blame the Minister of Defence for prolonging their long awaited benefits. As he put it, “The Minister is going around making all sorts of remarks for us to go to the bush, but that government will not pay us”.
Meanwhile Mohamed Kuyateh revealed that two gun shots were fired at them by bodyguards of the MOD and that five ex-military WIA officers were also arrested by the Ministers’ bodyguards.
The WIA is now calling on VP Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana to intervene fully to ensure that their money will be paid.
