HIV is here, Safe Sex is the way out

We are shocked, hearing that a total of 6,000 children are HIV positive in Sierra Leone. This prevalence is threatening as the rate depicts that more adults are equal victims by fact of being the main transmitters to those children.

Even though every carrier is a transmitter, the possibility for children to contract the virus stems more chances from parental genetic phenotypes.

This is more unfortunate because children are at risk contracting the Human Immunodeficiency Virus considering their level of mixture and life span expectancy. On a whole this throws caution to even our level of adult life as many blind relationships risk the potential of contracting the virus.

Many couples hardly go for the voluntary consent counseling test, and one might not know whether the giant hides behind the most beautiful skin.

The National Aids Secretariat has been working on a sero-prevalence survey which established a grim picture of a 1.2% prevalence rate in 2002, which later rose to 1.5 in 2005. Quite a number of such were Muslims who often practice polygamy in their normal lives. Kabala in the north fished the heaviest portion of the virus and the survey indicated that unsafe sex was much in practice in that part of the country.

We cannot afford to reduce our population size through the contraction of HIV and on this the national best guide policy is to appraise the safe sex approach and save our kith and kin the plague of the disease.
