“Le 100 Million is too small” – says UDM Flag-bearer.

The National Leader and flag-bearer of the United Democratic Movement Party (UDM) Mohamed Bangura has said in Freetown that the sum levied by the National Electoral Commission (NEC) for each political party’s presidential nominees to pay as nomination fee is minimal.

Mohamed Bangura suggests that the electoral commission should have considered making the fees  $100,000 (USD) which is equivalent to the sum of Le 400 million.

The UMD flag-bearer made this remarks during a media political debate held in Freetown with other contending political parties on the NEC electoral fees. On this premise he said any aspirant who wants to contest for the highest seat in the country must be buoyant of resources, which include being a property holder in the country.

The comment by the UDM flag-bearer was warmly welcomed by the representative from the ruling All Peoples congress Party (APC), Leonard Balogun Koroma.

The main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples’ Party representative in the panel, Joe Kallon also supported the presidential candidature fee imposed by NEC for the forthcoming November 17th 2012 election.
