“We are delighted to have the Salone delegation in Hastings’’- Michael Foster

The former MP of the city of Hastings, UK,  Michael Foster, who also doubles as the coordinator for training of the Sierra Leone athletes in Hastings, said they were very delighted to have the Sierra Leone delegation in Hastings ahead of the Olympic Games slated for the 27th July-12th August, 2012  (Photo: Former Hasting MP interviewed by Bernard Turay at the White Rock Hotel in Hastings, UK)

He said the reason for the Sierra Leone delegation to be in Hastings is because they have a friendship with the Hastings Community in Sierra Leone and that is why they have given the Sierra Leone athletes chance to use their facilities ahead of the games which they are very proud of.

Foster went further that with such friendship they are pleased and during their stay in Hastings they were living at the White Rock Hotel, while the William Parker School provided the training facilities.

When asked if they hosted any other countries in the Hastings Community apart of Sierra Leone, Foster said no, but other towns in the UK hosted other countries to have the same training ahead of the games.

He also revealed that for the Hastings children to see Olympians in their community for training is very good for them that is why they did everything possible to support the Sierra Leone athletes during the games.

When asked if Sierra Leone is going to have such opportunity in the future to have their athletes to undergo training in Hastings, UK, Foster said they look forward to seeing the relationship continue.
