‘’We are honoured to host the Sierra Leone delegation at Hastings ‘- Mayor Alan Roberts
The Mayor of Hastings in the United Kingdom, Alan Roberts, has said it is an honour for the people Hastings to host the Sierra Leone delegation to the Olympic Games
He made this statement during a dinner he organized for the Sierra Leone delegation with some members of the Hastings Committee.
He also disclosed that the Hastings Sierra Leone Friendship link is very strong which is now producing result. He called on the athletes to be focus and wish the best of luck during the games
Assistant Director of Sports who is the team chaperone Pamela Williams said they are grateful to the people of Hastings for the warm reception. She also stated that the Ministry of Sports and the National Olympics Committee of Sierra Leone is ready to use sports to help in the rebranding process of the country.
Pamela Williams said the country is making gains in the development of sports in recent outings. According to her if such support is given in future games Sierra Leone will produce more qualified athletes.
One of the athletes, Ola Sesay in her own contribution thanked the Hastings Community for giving them the necessary facilities to use for training ahead of the game which they appreciate very much and they are looking forward for such gesture.
In another related development the two Sierra Leone athletes have also presented medals to students of the William Parker School during the school sports meeting at the school grounds, they were also able to visit some Sierra Leoneans in the Hastings committee as part of their programme in Hastings.
