Education Ministry to Checkmate Unapproved Institutions

The Deputy Minister of Education, John Kamara has issued a statement threatening to shut-down all unapproved institutions operating within the country.

The Deputy Minister made this statement on July 16, pointing that his Ministry has unearthed quite a considerable number of institutions ranging from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions that have been operating in the country without having the necessary standard set by the Ministry.

He said this unchecked neglect for standard procedures designed by the Ministry has served as the water in the pool for the downward trend which education is currently witnessing in the country, adding that his Ministry is faced with difficult task of addressing the menace which has been stifling the growth of the educational sector in the country.

He said very soon they will be embarking on an exercise tour aimed at nipping this matter in the bud, and maintain that if his Ministry is to restore back the lost faith in the academia, such steps are need to be taken in order to compliment the Professor Kpamaja’s Commission of inquiry recommendations in redeeming the future of Sierra Leone’s education.
