FAKS boost vulnerable communities

Freetown, July 18 (SLENA): FAKS, a humanitarian relief organization founded in 2009 and headed by Mr. Donald Thompson has resumed humanitarian gesture to vulnerable communities in the country.

The latest being the provision of medical equipment and support to the Mabburaka Government hospital worth 34 million Leones.

FAKS also cooperate directly with government hospitals and work to develop partnership in addressing problems of basic human rights abuses such as gender based violence. The organization also advocates for good sanitation in the communities.

The non-governmental organization with offices at 16 Charles Street in Freetown is also involved in HIV awareness raising activities in collaboration with CARE International.

The NGO also put premium on women and children and it operational areas are Tonkolili, Bombali and the Western Area.

According to Mr. Donald Thompson, the Country Director, FAKS’s next plan is to open a Pharmaceutical Industry at Gloucester and a Nursing School which he said the people are in dire need of and appreciate very much.

FAKS is an affiliate of the Virginia Nursing School and Philadelphia School of Nursing in the United States and receives its support from Cross Links International FAD and the Government of Sierra Leone.

FAKS, he went on, hopes to improve the lives of Sierra Leoneans, and as  humanitarian organization is a provider of humanitarian assistance such as medicines, clothing, paying of school fees and supplies medical equipment to government hospitals across the country.
