APC Dallas to Host the USA Diaspora Campaign Group on Saturday July 21st in a Fundrasing Event
In a bid to accelerate the financial and logistic strength of President Koroma’s November election, and to honor the president for promoting democracy in Sierra Leone, the United States Diaspora Campaign group organization in collaboration with the All Peoples Congress Social and Cultural group (APC/SC) in Texas, will be having a fundraiser on July 21st at one of the prestigious halls in the city of Carrollton in Texas. His Excellency, Ambassador Bockarie Stevens, will be the guest of honor.
Several events including soccer tournament and awards ceremony will take place on the same day to honor the occasion. Five West African countries, including Nigeria, Cameroun, Ghana, The Gambia and Sierra Stars of Sierra Leone will participate in the tournament to battle for the “Patrick Dangawalli” trophy.
The social secretary of the APC/SC, Mrs. Juliana Daboh explained the importance of having series of events for this fundraising saying that it is not only about raising funds but also to gain recognition nationwide, creating community awareness and building relationships between the Dallas chapter and the APC Diaspora Campaign group.
Mrs. Juliana Daboh believes that their collaboration with the Diaspora Campaign group is a good will gesture slated to bring new membership to the APC chapter in Dallas.
It can be recalled that the APC Dallas chapter has been planning to host a fundraising drive last June but several contentious issues came up in the community that lead the June event to be postponed. The group came to collaborate with the Diaspora Campaign upon the arrival of the chapter president Mr. Mambu Koroma who returned from Sierra Leone a few weeks ago.
Abassador Bockarie Stevens will do the kick-off on the highly competitive tournament and have also been honored to deliver the trophies to the winner and runners-up during the night event.
Several organization heads like Sisters of Sierra Leone, Tegloma, Krio Descendant Union, Fullah progressive union, and United Sisters have pledged their support and presence. Many individuals are also enthusiastic to attend the event and listen to the Ambassador’s speech.
The media wing of the Sierra Leone community in Texas has assured community members of events full coverage on several news papers and will also be broadcast on SLBC and other radio stations in Freetown.
