Capsized Boat Drowns Two
Sierra Leone’s Boat Owners Union (SLBOU) chairman, Abdul Konike Kamara has confirmed to this press that on Thursday June 5th a boat called ‘Sierra Leone’ has capsize along side the Guinean territorial water which resulted to the death of two crew members.
In a telephone conversation with Mr. Konike he revealed that the boat named ‘Sierra Leone’ was carrying a crew of eight passengers heading for the harbors of Sierra Leone when it capsized within the region of Kalatay and Salatay in the republic of Guinea.
The accident resulted to the death of the captain of the boat called Mohamed Kamara (KLM) and the caretaker Mohamed Bashiru Lamin (Bo boy). He maintained further that this boat is a commercial boat that has being ferrying cargoes across the territorial waters of Sierra Leone to Guinea.
The chairman also explained that they had found two corpses who died out of the boat wreck as they were on board as passengers; he said the remaining six crew members are still being searched for at the coastal shallow waters of the Guinean republic along side the Guinean Naval boat.
