Ex–Soldiers Continue Protest Action
Ex-soldiers constituted as wounded in action (WIA) yesterday July 9th staged another protest strike action called operation pay your-self in the capital of Freetown.
The ex-soldiers started the protest action by a strike-march to the Ministry of Defense Tower Hill Freetown, and also strike-march towards the Police Head Quarter George Street where some members of the disgruntled soldier demonstrated their dissatisfaction by going half naked in the street.
Talking to one of the Leaders of the WIA’s staff sergeant Yusuf Sesay, explained to this press that they have decided to stage this protest strike action due to the long over due gratuity which constitutes their arrears for their long years of services in the army. He explained that ever since they were laid off in 2008 upon the backdrop that the physical or mental deranged they are yet to receive their arrears, he maintained further that this protest action is stage-manage for a peaceful demonstration, he continued by saying why many members have gone irate is due the aggrieved mind of many.
The sergeant also said the strike action actions which is but recently tagged operation pay yourself is aimed to tell the people and government of this country how desperate they are over what due them. He said this action will attract the appropriate authorities to address their current plight.
Some sections of the wounded in action soldiers revealed that they are aware that the state is mourning the death of the President’s mother and they too are but maintained that that the time to solve their woes is be addressed now.
Some cross section of the WIA’s promised to go on the rampage with remarks that they will rape innocent women and vandalize vehicles across the heart of the capital.
