Chavez Foundation signs MOU with BADA

Giving a background on the MOU, the Director of Hugo Chavez Foundation, Esther Aminata Zorokong said a delegation of BADA led by its National Chairman, Chief Sumaila Abdul Yemeh Sesay visited them at the 53 Caritas Drive International Secretarial, Allen Town to establish formal contact and working relationship with the foundation.

She noted that four hundred members of the two organisations sat, discussed and exchanged views and ideas on the way forward on the backdrop that the MOU is signed to improve the overall coordination and cooperation of both organizations and their required coordination for humanitarian assistance to the needy and environmental response activities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Director of Hugo Chavez International Foundation, Alimamy B. Sankoh, said the potential impact of the MOU in Africa is vast on both economic and development perspectives. From an economic development perspective, he said the MOU will have both direct and indirect impacts on economic activities on the continent and it would bolster their efforts to creating jobs that would boost the national economy.

Salieu Sidi Yankay, Food Safety and Nutrition Manager, said their vision in signing the MOU was to lay the foundation for development of farming communities, empowering rural areas and encouraging youth participation in development approaches.

He said they were envisaging a future wherein both the organizations were at the melting pot and the farmers had to sit together and discussed the prospects of agriculture and ended in setting up a low funding budget projects that would make them beneficiaries of the Hugo Chavez Foundation’s funding.
