Sierra Leone will take centre stage again in the international world with the country’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Edward Mohamed Turay, given the opportunity to deliver a 20 minutes speech about his country at the Meeting Room ‘P’ Portcullis House of the House of Commons, on West Central London.

This follows the establishment of an All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) focusing on Sierra Leone which will be officially launched tomorrow.

The group itself consists of Members of both Houses and all parties who are interested in Sierra Leone and are keen to learn more and support and promote Sierra Leone within Parliament.

APPG will also create a better understanding of issues relating to Sierra Leone, so as to promote links between Britain and Sierra Leone, and further support democracy and development in Sierra Leone.

HE Turay’s speech tomorrow is expected to give hope and confidence to the high-profiled British Parliamentary group as to how they can provide the necessary support that will enable APPG on Sierra Leone to achieve its principal objectives of promoting awareness and understanding amongst Parliamentarians on issues relating to Sierra Leone and promoting good relations between Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom.

A number of prominent Parliamentarians have been invited to the events which will be followed by a 40 minutes Questions and Answers session.

The High Commissioner will arrive at Carriage Gate and would be received by renowned British Member of Parliament Gavin Williamson.
