Former HANCIs boss mobbed in Makeni
Dr. Foday Roland Kargbo, the former Executive Director of the NGO Help a Needy Child International was in Makeni over the weekend June 9 witnessing the first ever run kiln sponsored marathon race to raise funds in support of street children in Sierra Leone.
Dr. Kargbo was well received by the resident Minister North, Mayor of the Makeni city, the Deputy IG and a host of important dignitaries honoring the event. Makeni is home to the shroud of controversy related to the issue of 29 children in the HANCI/MAPPS adoption issue which was out-blown by some section of the public given the premise that parents of the said children in question are at war with him.
Dr. Kargbo was given a deserving honour to address the crowd of onlooker of the marathon race and was given a hero’s applauds. In short the parents and the people of Makeni regarded him as a children emancipator and savior who has devoted a major part of his life in serving the children of Sierra Leone.
Speaking during the occasion he said he was happy an event such as the marathon race is marking its event in Makeni where he started his dream mission of making children’s lives a fortress, some fifteen years ago, little realizing that his organization HANCI was going to attract some 14 thousand beneficiaries in Sierra Leone. He thanked the organizers for holding such an event, calling on all with special facilities to come forward and help the Street Children of Sierra Leone.
