NEC representatives abandon plans

Representatives of various institutions sent to Brussels under the auspices to monitor the de-duplication process of the biometric voter’s registration exercise-process abandoned their lodging plans set for them by the United Nation Development Program (UNDP)

Sierra Express was reliably informed that the 18-man delegation which comprised of All Political Parties, Civil Society Organization, Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) and the National Electoral Commission, NEC, decided to answer to their own call by ditching out the accommodation plans already put in place for them by (UNDP)

As part of a transparent exercise process to enhance fair, credible registrations process UNDP, a donor supporting organization to the government of Sierra Leone sponsored the said trip with $2,530 cash as upkeep to each travelling personnel who were to stay in Belgium for a period of six days, to ensure satisfaction and fairness of all parties involved.

The representatives were supposed to occupy Sheraton Hotel in Brussels the Capital of Belgium, but according to sources, were seen deserting the hotel after spending one night upon the backdrops that it was too expensive.

Their option reports say were hotels rented $70 dollar per night which the entourage are quoted as saying they are reasonable.

Albert Massaquoi who is the outreach officer for NEC has responded that he only shares little knowledge as to the amount given to representatives as they were treated individually without the general responsibility of the Commission.

Responding to this, one of the representatives said they never thought the issue would be escalated in this manner as all they did was just to minimize cost.
